To be eligible for the grant, a student should be undergoing part-time studies in an acknowledged post-secondary institution- in addition to his undergraduate course. The course could be a certificate, degree or diploma course that must continue for minimum 12 weeks.

How much would you receive?

Well, it would be something like $1,800 per school year.

Canada Full-Time Students Grants (with dependants)

As the name says, this grant is especially designed for full-time students who have a child/children dependent on them and who belong to low-income households. The dependant should be below 12 years. Dependants over 12 years with disabilities are also considered under this grant. The full-time course should cover minimum 2 years. This grant is also applicable for diploma and certificate courses provided these meet the stated duration.

How much would you receive?

You may get up till $200 a month per each dependent child over the course of your full-time program. You will receive this amount along with the Canada Full-Time Student Grant.

Let’s say, you are eligible to receive $3,000 (8 months) from Canada Full-Time Student Grant. If you are also eligible for the grant for students (full-time) with dependants, you will receive $1,600 for each child ($200 x 8 months).

Canada Part-Time Students Grants (with dependants)

This grant is applicable for part-time students who have a child/children dependent on them and who belong to middle & low-income households. The dependant should be below 12 years. Dependants over 12 years with disabilities are also considered under this grant. The part-time diploma/degree/certificate course should cover minimum 12 weeks.

How much would you receive?

You would get something like $1,800 per school year.

The Canadian Federal Government also has post-secondary grants for students down with some kind of permanent disability. There is another grant especially for students suffering from permanent disability. It’s called Grants for equipments & services for students suffering from permanent disability. This grant will take care of the accommodation costs as well as textbook and tuition expenses of these students.
